CR Volunteer Spotlight: Charisse Wall

Clark County's entire Solid Waste Education and Outreach team wants to say a big thank you to one of our amazing volunteers, Charisse Wall! Charisse has been a rockstar for Clark County's Composter Recycler program since 2018. She has helped divert over 2,600 pounds of food waste from the landfill by collecting used espresso grounds from Espresso Express, a Battle Ground coffee stand.

Charisse collects 3-5 buckets of used espresso grounds each week and brings them to our live compost demonstration site at CASEE. The grounds are then used as organic material during our field trainings to teach others how to properly compost.

We thank Charisse for her contributions that help us pass along the knowledge of backyard composting to anyone interested! Visit the Composter Recycler website to learn more about our compost demonstration sites, sign up for both virtual and in-person workshops, and get involved as a Composter Recycler volunteer.

If you see Charisse at CASSE, be sure to thank her and maybe offer to help her carry espresso grounds – she's already carried 1.3 tons of them!
