Their recycling program reaches out to their customers because they are able to recycle old shoes. This is a unique draw for customers because can leave their old, unwearable pair of shoes behind when they buy new shoes at the store. The shoes are sent to have their rubber recovered and reused into new products, which extends their worth and keeps valuable materials from being wasted.
When the Shoe Fits goes further to help the community by donating new shoes to Share House in Vancouver, who distributes them to homeless and families in need. This community service is important to general manager Ryan Downey because "everyone deserves to have a great pair of shoes."
Since starting their recycling program, green team leader Allyson Quin states that the store now produces just a quarter of the amount of garbage they used to. Allyson said that "one change has a big impact," and that looking ahead, they are trying to make these changes at their other two Clark County locations.
