Kindred Homestead Supply, a certified Green Business, is inviting the community to several free swap events to help the community reduce waste and support a circular economy! Living sustainably means reducing waste where you can, and supporting events like these free swaps is one way to keep unnecessary materials out of the landfill.

The free swaps are an opportunity for you to bring your unused/unwanted goods for others to appreciate and get some new treasures while you're there. You do not need to bring an item to take an item, but all items brought to a swap must be in good, usable condition.

Engaging in a circular economy that supports minimizing unnecessary waste and consumption helps with our initiatives to combat climate change. Community based swaps, like these at Kindred Homestead Supply, help alleviate emissions generated during the lifecycle of materials both at the end of materials' life at the landfill and in the unnecessary creation of new materials at manufacturing plants. Reducing waste is also a great way to help support environmental justice, as disadvantaged communities are often disproportionately impacted by the negative externalities of landfills and manufacturing plants.

As a certified Green Business since 2021, we're excited to continue to support Kindred Homestead Supply's sustainable practices at these upcoming events. Oct. 6 – Halloween Costume Swap! Have your kids grown out of their past costumes? Are you looking for costume accessories? Come share your gently used costumes and receive some new ones.

Oct. 14 - Tuber & Bulb Swap! It's your chance to live your Hobbit dream and share your potatoes (and other tubers & bulbs) with the community.

Nov. 3 - Artwork Swap! Is there art sitting in your closet? Are you wanting to add something new to your walls? Bring your finished paintings, completed drawings, or framed photography to the shop.

Dec. 1 - Holiday Ornament / Gift Wrap Swap! Need to lighten up your wrapping paper collection? Have some ornaments you're ready to retire? Bring them out to the shop and get some new ones.
